This subdomain is the back-end of the archive. While the main platform stages the work as a navigable, scenographic experience, this space reveals the structural architecture beneath it. This project documents the transformation of a bespoke, Excel-based Master Index into a standardized, interoperable metadata system. It is a practical application of Collection Metadata Analysis and Digital Asset Management (DAM) principles to a complex, mixed-media collection. The index addresses the challenge of mapping a collaborative practice distributed across multiple digital and physical platforms. By developing controlled vocabularies, aligning local fields with industry standards like Dublin Core, and utilizing XML for data transformation, this back-end maps the relationships between disparate items and ensures the archive remains discoverable and preserved.
